Little Skeletons

Noah and Eva had a Halloween party at school today.  They are not allowed to bring weapons so the knight costumes were out, so we sent them as skeletons.

Judging by the bags under Noah's eyes here, this may have been a better costume than I realized...

She must have an older brother

Eva got some new shoes today.

They are cream with black lace, and after I put them on her she danced around and said "look at me!!"

She then marched over to Grammy and announced "look at mine Spider-Man shoes!!"

I guess I see where she's coming from...

Siblings

Today I got the greatest story from Noah and Eva's preschool teacher:

At Noah and Eva's school the preschoolers and toddlers take their naps in separate rooms. Today apparently Eva woke up early from her nap so they let her go to the preschool room so she didn't wake up the other toddlers. She went to Noah's mat and laid down with him. They spent the rest of the nap time cuddled together on the mat, Noah holding Henry and Eva holding Tigger. The teachers said Eva rubbed Noah's back, Noah put his arm around Eva, and they kept saying "I love you Noah." "I love you Eva."

Most of the time with parenting you muddle through, not really knowing what you are doing. But every once in a while you hear something like this and think "man. We are definitely doing something right."

Poor little sister

Scene that captured our friends' visit this evening:

Grown-ups in the kitchen drinking wine

Noah tears down the hall into the living room, yelling and dragging his comforter

Noah's 4yo friend tears down the hall into the living room, yelling and dragging a blanket

Eva walks down the hall, pulling the sheet from Noah's bed, wearing the forlorn expression of guys? Hey you guys? See me too??

Oh Eva, get ready for the next ten years.

Geography lesson

So Noah has this states puzzle, and he astonished me by putting it all together by himself today.

Actually, it was more impressive than that. I was in a different room an he came to get me asking for help finding Washington. He told me he had put the puzzle together but couldn't find Washington. So I went in, and he was right, and the puzzle piece for Washington was under the bookshelf.

So apparently he knows which state is Washington.

And then he picked up Alaska, walked across the room, and announced "Alaska is really very very far thiiiiiiiis far north."

And I stared to suspect someone is teaching my kid geography. Grammy? Daddy?

And then he told me "the truck is in Texas." And it was.

And then he held up New Mexico and asked Eva "are you looking for this planet?"

Hm. Maybe I need to have a word with his geography teacher.

Big smiles

Poor phone

While getting Eva into her pajamas:

Eva: I just joking
Mommy: huh?
E: where is my phone?
M: I don't know, where is it?
E: the closet!!
M: really?
E: no. The microwave!! Hahah!

Then we went in to brush her teeth and I told Chad and Noah what she said.

Noah: In the microwave? She can't do that! Eva doesn't have a phone!!

These little people are hilarious. :)
