Why is that woman so oddly shaped?
Because her baby hates the wind in his face.

Where we are at 6+ weeks
I can make Noah smile on command, but not really coo. We are working on it.
Also, I am quite confident that after posting this video to the internet no one will ever take me seriously again. Mom, I hope you appreciate it. :)
(Also this video is from the other day, it just took me a while to figure out how to post it)

Babywearing (2)
This is the carrier I have started using when going shopping (Noah has been to Home Depot in it three times already!). It is reasonably cute from this angle, which other people get to see.
But from my point of view, he is almost unbearably cute.
In other news, Noah weighed in at 12 lbs, 15 oz today. Huge. The kid is HUGE!

Naps are for wimps
Noah always cries when we put him in the carseat, and then falls asleep in the stroller when we go for a walk (you may have noticed the abundance of "baby sleeping in stroller" pictures). That is, until today, when he stayed awake (and not fussy!) for our entire walk. I was shocked - we walked for at least 45 minutes (including a 1-mile jog, yes I am practically a fitness god). The kid has never before withstood 45 minutes of bouncing. But outside is interesting - there is so much to see!
Then we came inside and he further amazed me by not fussing due to being in the seat and instead cooing at his bees.

Gym Time
Noah loves his new play gym, where there are toys dangling over him just within reach.
He bats and grabs at the toys, and occasionally coos at them (or to himself - it's hard to tell). I was impressed - before setting him loose on the mat I didn't realize he could manipulate things so deliberately. It is so neat to see him learn how to do new things each day!

Baby news
Noah has started to purposefully talk (or rather, coo). It is very adorable. Especially when he gets all excited (waving arms and legs and all) but only gets out a tiny little "goo."
Noah also requires constant bouncing, which is very tiring. We may have found a solution:
And finally, Noah had the world's most impressive baby cowlick this morning, which I present here for internet posterity.

Basement Story, Chapter 1
Hi. Remember me? Rachel and Chad's cement basement?
With the baby, they can't get to the gym so mom and Sue came down to help them make a workout space in the basement.
We coated the walls with waterproofer and put down a fancy plastic/plywood subfloor...
And put up a wall to separate the rest of the basement
So now we're ready for carpet and exercise equipment!
(also spackle and paint)
Very exciting! A whole new room for our home!!

My, this blanket is delicious
Does it seem like our blog features an unreasonable number of pictures of Noah in his stroller? A picture a day is a big goal, and when he's in the stroller he meets the two major requirements for my taking a picture: 1) looking cute, 2) not currently requiring both of my hands. So expect a few more.

Big News
Oh by the way...
THE BABY CAN SMILE NOW. This new skill (he's been doing it for the past week now, more and more each day) reduces his parents to a quivering pile of goo (the cuteness!! We are helpless in the face of the cuteness!!!) rendering us unable to take a picture (hence no mention of it here until today). Luckily, having grandparents around allowed him to smile at someone else so I had a chance.
He still smiles at Chad more than anybody, which is also freaking adorable.

Baby on the move
Noah is a traveling man this weekend, headed over the river and through the woods to Grammy's (and Saba's) houses
Today he spent some quality time looking around Grammy and Sue's house.
We also got to see their crazy cats. One cat slept under a towel (seriously) the whole time, while the other did things like this:
Apparently this cat does NOT like to have his belly rubbed. He just lies like this to relax. Or something.

New stuff
Noah got a sweet new car seat cover, so we can take him for walks even when it's cold and kind of windy out.
Today we even did a (very very short) bit of running with the stroller! I miss running a lot, so am very excited about taking Noah for some jogs.
The following picture is purely for archival purposes. This is tiny Noah in his new pack and play. Sooner than later, it will be giant Noah in the pack and play, and we will compare things then.

Darth Noah
Noah says: Luuuke...
Noah snoozes like a pro whenever we get together with the other moms and babies from my prenatal yoga class (the picture above is from when we met for a walk in the park this afternoon). I try to assure them this is not what he is like at 4am, but to no avail...
He is adorable while sleeping, though...

Family Picnic
Today we headed out to Evansburg state park, for a little picnic and a hike in the woods. Noah enjoyed the picnic until he woke up, and at that point he was NOT impressed with the wind.
He seemed to enjoy the hike a lot more.
At least until Mommy and Daddy misread the trail map and the hike extended past his mealtime... luckily we all made it back safe and sound and avoided starvation. Narrowly.
Then in the evening, we came home and Noah challenged Chad to a staring contest.
Noah clearly won, since Chad looked away to get the camera.
