Marriage rules

Conversation on the way into swimming today:

N: mommy, will you still be my mom when I'm a grown-up?
M: of course!
N: *thinks* Can I marry you when I grow up?
M: nope
N: *thinks*
M: honey, I'll always be your mom, even when you're a grown-up. Just like how Grammy is still my mom and I'm a grown up.
N: *thinks*. Can I marry Grammy when I'm a grown-up?
M: nope. If you decide to get married you have to pick someone who's not in your family.
N: why?
M: that's just the way getting married works
N: did God make it that way?
M: um, excellent question.

And then I said a silent prayer of thanks that we reached the changing room and he got distracted.

Cooks

N: we are the best cookers ever! Look at all the things we need: sugar, olives, jellybeans

Daddy: those are black beans, not jelly beans

N: ok, olives, soup, rice, sugar, olives and black beans

More sledding

We got two feet of slow last week, and Noah took advantage to continue his mastery of the sled jump


Eva only went down on the sled once and then decided it wasn't for her.  But she did still enjoy the hill...

 

Nothing says March like a few feet of snow and and afternoon of sledding...

Little gift

Noah made a picture for Eva and listening to them discuss it is about the cutest thing ever.

N: do you like what I made you?
E: yes! I like it a lot!!
N: look at the rainbow here!
E: and look at all the pretty jewels!
N: do you think that says "Noah?"
E: yeaaaah!

(Both scamper off)

Friends

When visiting our friends we lost three out of four children, then discovered them hiding in a closet upstairs reading a book with a flashlight. It was pretty adorable.

I went in to check on Noah after putting him to bed, and found him standing quietly at his desk working on this:
