Back to the farm

In a cruel twist of early-fall fate, we ended up at the pick-your-own farm the week before apple season started. While this was heartbreaking for me, the family as a whole had a very good time.

Noah got to pick some peaches, which is exiting because he can now say "peaches" even though he generally refuses to eat them.

Peaches! Peaches!

He tried to make friends with some turkeys in the pyo rasberry patch (they weren't interested)

And he got to see some goats, sheep and cows.

Big Cow!!! Big Cow!! hehehehe

Mommy got a bagfull of heirloom tomatoes and made tomato sauce for the first time. Everybody wins!

L'shanah Tova

Noah and I were busy in the kitchen yesterday, making challah for the new year.

Noah was really into needing the dough this time around, pushing it back and forth on the counter. He also learned how to say "challah," and said it over and over again as he worked.

He also knows how to say "poke," so he obviously had to use that one a lot as well.

In other exciting new years week news, we learned that we are going to have a little girl. Name suggestions are currently being accepted.

And based on the enthusiastic kicks I felt during shofar-blowing at temple this morning, I am thinking a possible brass player.

(those are her feet. Very cute, right? Easy to say at 20 weeks. Let's talk again at 35 weeks when those kicks are taking my breath away)

Puddle!

We didn't get much from Earl other than a bit of rain, but we went out the next morning to enjoy a fresh puddle. I almost never let Noah play in these puddles but in this case I knew the water was only hours old, so what the heck. How bad could it be?

Oh. I see.

I like how Noah's friend Amelia thinks this game is fun as long as you don't get too wet and dirty. And how Noah has absolutely no concern for wet or dirtiness.

Also, pretty good jumping, huh?

What a beautiful day to enjoy the field across the street

Family portrait from camp

We love camp! Lots of trees, very few showers. What's not to like?

Farm!!

Early in our vacation, Grammy and Grammy Sue took Noah to their CSA to pick some beans. Apparently he thought it was GREAT!

He like picking the beans (string and edamame), and also enjoyed running down the paths between the rows shouting "farm!" "farm!"

Oh, also, beans are great for eating.

Yum!

Bad Influences

One morning, shortly after breakfast, there was cake decorating at Nana and Saba's house.

You can tell it is time for candy and cake because Dylan and Nana are still in their pajamas.

Isn't this way better than what mommy and daddy let you eat at home?

Noah was a bit confounded by the containers, but leaned he likes the candy inside.

Look, Noah - you lightly shake the sprinkles over the cake.

SPRINKLES AHOY!!!

This is what happens when you let the children loose with the candy. Beautifully horrifying cake art. Also really happy kids. :)
