Misbehaving baby

Eva, to her baby doll who is lying on the floor:

"You on the floor! You screaming at the table. That is not ok! It is not ok to screaming at the table. (Poking baby in face) not... ok... screaming at the table at me."

(to mommy) "he gonna take a break in his room."

(Drops baby into dining room chair) "you in your room. where is your dinner? Is that ok screaming at the table? It's not ok. You taking a break in your room. Can you go under the table? Me can't find you when you are under the table. That not ok baby." Etc etc etc. until she got distracted by her need to take all of the food out of Nana's spice cabinet.

I am not sure if this means we are doing it right or totally wrong...

Merry Christmas!

We had a lovely visit to Mima and Oompa's house for Christmas. Luckily, we had the foresight to dress our children in red.

 

Eva and Cassidy had fun with the kitchen

 

And Ciara loved her elephant

 

But, just like last year, the biggest hit was the WWF action figures. What almost 2yo girl doesn't love WWF?

 

 

Oh, or maybe it's the big cousins she likes so much. :)

N: Mommy, look how much food I have!
M: wow!
N: Do you know why I have so much food?
M: why?
N: so I can share it with the whole world.
M: *big smile*
N: I'm going to give it to the cookers too.

It's not easy, but with a good team even a robotic Mars landing is possible.

Moving on up

So Eva loved her crib,

but the weekend after Thanksgiving Chad and I had the chance to go to Ikea without any children. So we took the chance and got Eva a bed. She was a little bit excited.

Mine big girl bed!!! Mine big girl bed!!!

Noah was also very excited for her, together they tumbled in and out and in and out

I think we timed the transition just about perfectly - she has done the usual up and down one expects with the transition, but even the first day she slept great in the bed for both naps and bedtime. She thinks she's the same age as Noah, so I guess I am not surprised.

She also has a whole menagerie of stuffed animals and other assorted toys in there, it's a good thing she's pretty small compared to the bed.

Mine big girl bed!  It has stripes!  It's for sleeping!  Me sleep in mine big girl bed!!!  

My big, happy, grown-up girl. :)

Blue Hills Hike

Right before Thanksgiving, we went for a lovely hike in the Blue Hills Reservation.  

There were a lot of leaves and some big sticks

And some cool-looking trees to poke with those sticks

And we stopped for a snack and I really tried to get a picture where everyone was smiling that I could use for a holiday card

And this didn't really work out, to no one's surprise

And then it started to get kind of late and we thought we should be heading back and Eva thought we should sit an eat snack for another hour or so

And Noah was king of the mountain

And everything was just, just, great.
