Tadpoles

A few weeks ago we went on a hike with our friends and found a pond with hundreds and hundreds of tadpoles.

So of course we tried to catch some (duh)

Did you know it is possible for preschoolers to catch tadpoles with their bare hands?

Somehow I thought the tadpoles would be faster.  Or more alarmed by the giant hands going for them.  But I guess they have very small brains...

Eventually we continued on our hike and climbed some big rocks

Rostam and Noah: 5 year olds with attitude.  Eva and Alden, 3 year olds that are still sometimes sweet

Look!  Another bug!!

At the end of the hike we ate some lunch at a pavilion and Eva and Alden exchanged detailed notes about the care and quality of life of their newly acquired pet inchworm.

Yay hiking!

Batman boys

Noah and his friend Jesse had their faces painted at a birthday party.

Of course there was also lots of other fun stuff, they went on a treasure hunt...

Eva got a baby purple dinosaur

There were opportunities to goof off with party hats

But seriously, the batman face paint kind of trumped everything else.

Silly boys. ;)

Neighbor kids, with pizza

Every time we have them all together I am struck by how much bigger they are than last summer.  Or the summer before that.

Ahoy!!

I haven't processed any pictures off of the big camera in a while and was delighted to find some shots of our visit to Nana and Saba's house over Patriot's day.  We had one day sunny enough for a first trip out on the paddleboat.

First we collected  the necessary equipment...

And Saba was a trooper about wading out far enough to launch the boat

And they're off!

On the way back they encountered a log...

What a fun spring day.  But the final picture is my favorite of the lot:

Lettuce

Hey Grammy!  Look what we had for dinner last night!

The first lettuce from the kids' garden!!

(Actually it was also a special dinner because we had spiedie chicken, thanks to Wegman's finally opening and bringing spiedie sauce to the Boston Metro area)

Anyway yum!!
