This morning I found Noah on his tummy. This is the first time he's rolled over at home (I think it's easier in the pack and play than in his crib).
He was in a surprisingly good mood, considering the tummyness.
We went to the Bux-Mont Jewish festival today just in time to see our Rabbi compete in the Rabbis pie eating contest. We think he performed admirably. They were really big pies.
There were lots of activities for kids, but Noah is still too little for things like face painting and parachute games. Instead, we practiced sitting and played in the grass.
Noah is getting much better at sitting up unassisted. Actually, we always have to assist him into a sitting position, but he can stay seated without our help for up to 30 seconds or so. Especially if there is something interesting like grass to play with!
Also, did you notice his wristband? They are serious about security at the Bux-Mont Jewish Festival. EVERYONE has to wear a wristband. Except our friends, who just walked in a different side of the field and didn't see the registration table. Huh.
After a fun day, Chad and Noah finished with a few rounds of old McDonald.
Yay weekends. :)

bouncing and bananas
Noah went to his first kiddie birthday party today (happy birthday Rebecca!). Pictures to follow.
For now, after working up an appetite,
Noah enjoyed some more bananas.
This time with rice cereal mixed in. I don't think he noticed. He was so all about the bananas he started to fuss whenever I took the spoon away to put more food on it.

Go Bananas!!
He loved them!
In addition to grabbing the bowl and trying to lick it, he did such exciting things as opening his mouth and letting me stick a spoon in there. Of course, I could not capture this on film as I'm by myself and my non-spoon hand was totally covered in bananas after about 30 seconds.
As was he, up to about his elbows. Turns out banana mush doesn't really show up on camera. Huh.
Next up: spinach? Give the kid a challenge?

Sweet!
Potato, that is!
Noah got his first taste of the orange stuff today. He seemed to really like it, and was certainly more excited than he is about cereal.
He kept grabbing for the dish and frantically licking.
How exciting! Something he likes!
In other news, Noah helped Daddy with a programming challenge today.
Of course, by "helped," I mean drooled on the keys for long enough for Chad to take care of something...

Back on the trail
We went out to Nockamixon state park today, for a hike in the beautiful weather.
Seriously. Look how cute he is in that hat. Wouldn't you take him outside at any opportunity?
Nockamixon state park is very nice, and we enjoyed a few trails around the lake. There were a few boats on the lake and we didn't see anyone else on the trail.
On the way to the park we went to a few farms to find some local meat. Noah got to see a donkey and a horse for the first time. He was considerably more interested in the donkey, which came right up to us (probably expecting a treat).
As exciting as this was, it was a little bit of a letdown. The donkey lived at a bison farm, and we were kind of hoping to see some of his big hairy friends. Maybe next time we'll ask to go out back and meet them, assuming we like our bison steaks and want to come back.

Tummy Sleep!!
When I arrived to pick up Noah at day care today, I found him sleeping on his tummy!!
The teachers had put him to sleep on his back, and said he rolled in his sleep. I was thrilled. This is the first back - to - front rollover, as well as the first time he's rolled over without us setting him up in some ridiculously uncomfortable position he can't really help but want to roll out of. I was also happy he stayed sleeping, which *might* just mean that when he rolls over during the night he won't wake up...
At any rate, yay Noah. :)

Rice and Bouncing
Cereal, take two:
He's all about the cereal, happy to open his mouth and lick the spoon. He just doesn't really know how to swallow it.
Because of this, most of it ends up on his bib.
Noah says "yum!"
In other news, we decided Noah is old enough for the doorway bouncer, so we went to get one today. He seemed to love it, happily buzzing his lips and turning around in circles.
He stopped for a brief conversation with Max, who didn't seem to know what to make of the baby hanging from the molding.
Un-photographed: gardening with the baby strapped to my back, tummy time with bee toy, reading books, napping in bed with mommy and daddy, running on the Wissahickon trail. Sundays are great! And long, when you get up at 5:30am.

Best meal so far!
Noah had a very exciting culinary day today. We started out with an eggplant course, trying out his new high chair. We're still waiting for the cushion and baby harness to arrive, but he only needs a bit of help to sit in the chair without them.
For lunch, we blew his mind by feeding him some rice cereal.
Real food! Messy baby!
And Silverware!
It was lots of fun for us, and overall, I would say he approved. He didn't swallow much, but seemed happy about the process.
And we get to try again tomorrow!

Trombone Chops
Noah is practicing so he can grow up to play low brass like his aunts.
(The buzzing with humming is me out of frame. The buzzing without humming is Noah)

4 Month Visit
We took Noah to his 4 month doctor's visit today.
His favorite part was when we let him destroy the paper on the examination table.
He weighed in at a whopping 17 lbs, 4.5 oz, and measured 26 and 1/4 inches. He's huge! :) He was a very good sport about his shots, and we got the go-ahead to start solids soon.
Really?
Our baby?
He's old enough for solids?
Holy crap.
