Fish Dinner

During our day of wandering around Copenhagen we stumbled across Toldboden, a really cool seafood restaurant.  There were a bunch of Danes eating there which made it seem promising, but really it was 6pm and there wasn't much else around so what were we going to do.

Anyway, it was awesome.  And we really did it right.  First, we seated the kids at their own table.

Meanwhile, we got to sit by ourselves with our excellent wine and look out the windows.  Notice how there are no children in the vicinity to climb on us.

Then, we ordered an enormous platter of fresh seafood which somehow neither of us managed to photograph.  Imagine a giant tray of ice covered in shellfish.

Then, we somehow convinced our 4 and 6 year olds that shellfish are awesome and let's pick these things apart and eat them.

yay shellfish!

yum!

And the craziest part was Eva decided she loved eating the eyeballs.  I don't even know what to say about that, I was really too squeamish to watch closely. But she must have eaten 20 tiny crayfish eyeballs by the end of the evening.

mmmm, eyeballs!

Yay for new cultural experiences!

(of course there is no guarantee they would ever do this again, we'll see if they are so adventurous with New England seafood next summer).
