Noah language update

He's a total lunatic, the proper preschool kind.

He speaks with increasingly more complex sentences, and can be understood by most people most of the time. He can't really say the letter l or r, so "white," "light" and "right" all sound basically the same. His grammar is pretty good for a 2.5 year old, and he uses most pronouns correctly. He still has a bit of confusion about when to use "he" and when to use "she," though. He also confuses the words "numbers" and "letters," often informing us "look at the numbers there!" when he sees text. Also a special treat we get sometimes is letter of the day cookies, which he insists on calling "number cookies."

He makes a couple of consistent errors that I refuse to correct because they are so adorable. (I don't encourage them, I am just willing to wait for him to correct them on his own).

"Give it for" as in yelling "I have to give it for grammy!" as he flees the room with the iphone

"Taking for a run" as in "I am taking for a run" as he tears around the house.

"I'm am!" as in "I'm am waiting" when we tell him to wait.

"this is" as in "who's paper clip this is?" He usually knows the answer to the question, e.g. "who's shoes these are?" (Daddy's) or "who's toy this is?" (Eva), but it can be interesting when he asks things like "Who's squirrel that is?" Nobody's? God's? Our neighbors? The squirrel is his own squirrel?

He also is singing a lot, and has recently started using nonsense sounds in songs he invents. The past few nights he has been entertaining us with song and dance after dinner...

(this example is cut short because Eva was crying in her crib and he thought he could help)

Noah the bee

Still don't know where he comes up with this stuff

Friends?

Probably not. This lasted about two seconds before Entropy took off. Eva took solace in discovering and befriending her feet instead.

Superhero glasses

He made these at school a few weeks ago, and every once in a while insists on wearing them. As long as he brushes his teeth I don't ask questions.

Water babies

So all of a sudden it is summer and hot and Noah wants to play in the water. So I dug out the classics from last year.

Of course this time around he is a bit more agile and it didn't take long before there was water everywhere and Noah was in the middle of it, so to speak.

Eva, confined to the Exersaucer, was totally jealous.

Maaaaan! Noah gets to have all the fun.

Since we have a nice big yard now, I think it's time we upgraded to the kiddie pool. Noah totally agrees.

Eva, confined to Daddy's arms, is jealous.

Seriously!?!? This is happening again!?

Even though the water was freezing (we'd just filled it up from the hose a few hours earlier) we decided to give the kid a break and dip her feet in.

She didn't complain, and instead stared wistfully at the water. So we gave in an sat her down, so she could have a better view of Noah dumping water on his head.

They had an awesome time in there together.

I guess we'll be spending a lot of time wet this summer.

Big girl

So Eva went to the doctor for her four month appointment, and was declared practically perfect in every way. Her stats were:

height: 26in (95%ile)
weight: 14lbs 6.5oz (64%ile)
head: 41.2cm (54%ile)

This is excellent news for her potential to be a volleyball player and get to play with baby Provan on Aunt Sarah's future team.

After we got the go-ahead, we decided to stop torturing Eva by eating in front of her and start feeding her solids. We went with sweet potato for a first shot.

She was very excited, until she actually tasted the sweet potato. Then she was notably more skeptical.

Faces aside, she didn't push the food out with her tongue, and really seemed more confused by the taste than put off by it. She kept opening her mouth and grabbing the spoon for more and probably ate a solid teaspoonful.

She was also clearly proud of herself afterwards.

Since then we've done rice cereal with breastmilk, which we cannot feed her fast enough to keep her from squawking her complaints. We've also tried peas, which has not gotten quite the same reaction. Next up - banana! Go Eva!!
